A Peek at Atid, the Future

Last night's benefit show for the Atid Society at JKHA was a rousing success.

14 songs by 24 artists and musicians produced the magic that reminds us of why we go to see music performed live on stage. The show, Produced by Beth Ravin with Musical Direction by Greg Wall, featured 3 different versions of HaTikvah! The first was the traditional opening song. Later, Yossi Piamenta's electric guitar interpretation ignited the stage before his own version of Shedemati. Lastly, Dov Rosenblatt and Diwon led the ensemble in a updated slightly Hip Hop version that's sure to become a hit! "We Hope" the live mixes of these tracks sounds as amazing as they did from the stage.

JM in the AM with Nachum Segal hosts Greg Wall

We were most fortunate this morning to be featured on WFMU's radio program "Jewish Music in the Morning," a metro-area staple. Host Nachum Segal plays three tracks from the Pioneers For A Cure project while engaging our own Pioneer Producer Greg Wall on the process of updating these classic songs. Hail to the Chief

Congratulations to our new President-elect. Getting past this election cycle is such a relief in and of itself. Now we can all move forward together, and we should focus on healing our society and finding a cure for cancer.

Election night was special at the Pioneer Studio because we happened to get our "mastered"  14 track Limited Preview Edition in for approval before CD's are made. These tracks sound even better now. Very special thanks to Rob Paustian, Mastering Engineer extraordinaire!

Studio B for a New Year!

Happy 5769! As we move to the New Year, here's an update. We've recorded two more tracks recently, while continuing to mix and overdub others. The New York Voices came in and recorded a beautiful four part a cappella English version of "Sovivon Sov Sov Sov," the popular Chanukah song. Who knew it was a pioneer song? See our PioneerProducer blog for the rest of the story. This is exactly the kind of track we'd like to feature during the upcoming Holiday Season.

Which leads us to the second part of this post. We recorded over 20 songs from late March '08 until September '08, all in our wonderful Pioneer Studio. Alas, the space is undergoing a construction Extreme Make Over. So we've moved upstairs to our new Studio B! Although it's smaller, our new space is more appropriate for mixing these tracks, while still allowing us to overdub tracks and even record new ones.

The Pioneers For A Cure project will, please G-d, become an early 2009 release, with a Special Preview of our two Chanukah themed tracks (Yeled Kat is the other one) coming out in December '08!

Tee Shirts, M&M's, and Bob Clearmountain!

Welcome to Elul and Labor day. As we turn the page on Summer, returning to school and work, here's an update on the Pioneers For A Cure project.

Mr. Bob Clearmountain last week mixed a beautiful track for us. "I Will Play My Flute" is an old pioneer song made fresh by Pharaoh's Daughter. The proceeds of this track are going to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Bob's mix is great. Thanks Bob!

When we got back from LA, there were two packages waiting. One with the initial tee shirt sample and another with a sample of the "Pioneers For A Cure" logo on a small bag of real M&M's, tied with a pink ribbon! I'm wearing the tee shirt now, very comfy 100% cotton, and the M&M's.... :-)

David Broza!

We've been excited about this one for awhile, but we've maintained a policy of not blogging about things that haven't happened yet. So now, as this video shows, we can happily talk about David's beautiful version of this famous Israeli pioneer song for the benefit of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. He nailed it in one take. What a pro. Thanks so much David!

Blue Fringe's Dov Rosenblatt

Dov came into the studio and put down a beautiful electric piano track with harmonies you just have to hear. Clip to follow ASAP.

Our Logo's (almost) Ready!

We're looking to add a Cancer Ribbon and maybe change the font, but we're pretty happy with this concept for our logo.

Mira Sasson is providing the visual aspects of  the Pioneer project by first photographing and then painting portraits of the Artists.
